System changed- CAN ADOPT and CAN MARRY
The Govt Of Canada passed a bill making same-sex marriages legal. But I think a good thing is that it will not force any religious or other non-govt institutions to conduct them.
The same-sex marriage issue has been blown way out of proportion throughout the "developed" world. If 2 adults want to be in a same-sex relationship, they should be given every right to be in one and also given all the rights as a "regular" couple. End of issue.
The most important thing that tend to be overlooked is: Whether they can adopt a child or not? If they do, whether living in such an "unique" home affect a child drastically? Most of the govts say that the same-sex couples can adopt children. If that being the case, the issue of in regards to the marriage becomes a non-issue. Who cares? Why should anybody oppose to 2 same-sex couples getting married?
The main reason the gay couples want to marry is to oppose the system and spark a change. Otherwise they can just stay in their common-law relationship, which is pretty much equivalent of being married. Whenever there is a change in a law, it faces huge opposition. People would be thinking "are you gone mad? why w'd anybody make such a disgusting thing legal?". the same when Non-whites demanded social justice.
Another important question is "what abt incest?". if the concerned adults agree and want to marry, should that be legalized too? mmm, i don't know.
